The new Nik Collection 2.5 includes a series of wonderful new film looks, applying to a wide variety of photo types. Versions of the Nik Collection prior to 2.5 will show a colour rendering problem if you try to edit a 16-bit image using Nik Viveza. This included changes to ensure the Nik Collection is fully compatible with Affinity Photo. In February 2020, DXO released the Nik Collection 2.5. Nik Collection 3 can be used as a plug in with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Photoshop Elements, DxO PhotoLab, Serif Affinity Photo, ON1 Photo RAW and any photo editing software that has a third-party export menu or Adobe Photoshop plugin compatibility. Most importantly we look at how to open an image for editing because the Nik Collection doesn’t have an obvious way to do this. I’ll be explaining how to find and launch the Nik Collection executables on both a Mac and Windows Computer. In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to use the Nik Collection as a standalone photo editor.
